The Medical College of Georgia is Georgia's health sciences university and it was founded in 1828. It started with plans to offer a single course of lectures leading to a bachelor's degree, and it's located about 145 miles east of Atlanta.

Founded in 1961, Augusta Technical College is a two-year college based in Augusta, Georgia. They offer an exciting variety of online and hybrid courses in addition to traditional lecture classes. They operate under the supervision of the State Board of Technical and Adult Education, and serve the needs of business, industry, and the public in a five-county area in east central Georgia.

Augusta's school board is run by the Richmond County Board of Education. Their mission is to educate students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens. There are 8 high schools, 10 middle schools, 36 elementary schools, 4 magnet schools, and 3 other schools.
